Featured Photographer: Doug Bailey

While my photographic passion takes me to locations all over the west coast, I am especially drawn to the Temecula Valley, which is  located just north of San Diego and an hour East of Los Angeles. With it's Balloon Festivals, outstanding Wine Country, unique Ecological Preserves, Eventful Old Town, and Amazing Back Country vistas, the Temecula Valley offers me an outstanding opportunity to capture the Southern California essence that draws people from all over the world.

I shoot with my Canon T3i, and I only use three lenses, a Cannon 18-55mm f/3.4-5.0  IS II,  a Canon 55-250 f/4-5.6 IS II, and a Canon f/1.8 50mm prime lens. I cannot leave out my little Mini Cooper convertible as an essential partner for finding these pics, nothing better than a top down cruise to see all of you  photo opportunities!   For post processing I use Light Room 4, which is giving me good results.  I never shoot HDR, I simply try to find the best natural light possible.  And when on a photo shoot I take along an arsenal of mental images consisting of scenes and vignettes I want to catch, in fact I have dreamed of images that I have found on subsequent shoots.

When asked to describe his approach to photography, Doug Bailey usually will say he is just "Finding Photos." But one look at his work reveals so much more.  Doug has combined his sense of adventure, fun, patience, and skill to create some truly memorable images.  His ability to see a subject in the perfect combination of light, line, and shadow is a rare talent and he creates images described as pleasing to the soul as well as the eye. Doug Bailey lives and has his studio in the Temecula Valley area of Southern California.

Featured Photographer: Chase Harrison

Fall in the Rocky Mountains is my favorite time of year. As a photographer, what inspires me the most this time of year is light. As we all know photography is all about light. I for one am chasing the light all the time. What inspired me to shoot this particular image is just that, the light. I spent almost 3 hours at this one location and the light was changing constantly. It doesn't get much better than this.

Tech notes: Camera: Nikon D80, ISO 100,F/8,1/250, Focal length 175 mm

Chase Harrison is an up and coming photographer in Snowmass Village, CO. He has lived in the Roaring Fork Valley for over 30 years. Being an artist and photographer is a serious passion of his. His first love is landscape photography, but he is branching out into other types of photography, such as abstract and some street photography.

Featured Photographer: Jason Greiner

As a person who grew up in a fairly large urban area, I have always had an appreciation for some of the elements that typically make up such an environment. As an adult, I truly came to develop an additional affinity for the sights, smells and sounds of the natural world around us. This image was shot within a 20 plus acre protected green space only a few miles from my inner city home. Upon scaling a wall of about 50 feet or so to reach this particular and little known spot, those who venture to it are greeted by a wonderful mix of both the urban and the natural all rolled into one simple setting. For me, it is a scene I visit with some frequency for the solitude and solace it can leave on one's mind and in one's heart.

I am truly honored to welcome world renowned fashion, commercial, and celebrity photographer Jim Jordan as the guest today. He was most gracious about submitting four images, two of which are shared today, including this one of Charlize Theron and her dog on the cover of Vanity Fair that I just love, and two of which will be shared down the road. Enjoy!

Growing up as a skater and surfer in sunny, Southern California, Jim Jordan spent his high school days scouting models and finding the next great faces of the coming generation. Jim now shoots celebrities such as Leonardo Dicaprio, Drew Berrymore, Charlize Theron, Marisa Miller, to name a few, and shoots for clients such as Vogue, Vanity Fair, Elle, Marie Claire, etc. Jim also directs and shoots seamless campaigns for clients such as Mercedes Benz, J Crew, American Express, Warner Brothers, and many more.
